NoGa - Spring DXpedition

"To the Stars"

at

Hard Labor Creek State Park

April 16 - 18, 2010

Another great NoGa Campout and DXpedition was in in conjunction with a trip to the Georgia State University Astronomical Observatory on the grounds of the State Park.

We had some first time campers and some veteran campers and we had great weather all weekend.  As usual we all learned some Ham Radio Field Operating tips including what is needed in the way of fully charged batteries and how to hang an antenna without becoming totally immersed in poison oak.

We had a great turn out for the operating activity and awards banquet on Saturday and as usual could have fed the homeless in a couple of counties with what everyone brought out.

Thanks to all that participated and made this another "stellar" NoGaVent..!!  AND special thanks to Betsy Cummins, Joyce Lee and Jean Broadwell for setting up the delicious "Awards Banquet"..!!

Hard Labor Creek was originally a Civilian Conservation Corps camp that was started in 1934 and lasted until 1939.  The property still contains the 2 camps, Rutledge and Daniel which continue to be fully maintained by the State of Georgia and used by large church groups and others during the year.
